Statuettes

In this section you will find statuettes picked up at Tibetans refugees in the North of India. Most are made of brass, they are connected to Indu and Buddhist religions.

Traditional siting Tara

Tara (or Jetsun Dolma) in tibetan is a bodhisattva woman (human beings trying to reach the full awakening). This goddess make a vow to stay woman all along her reincarnations bringing her to nirvana. In sanskrit her name means « liberator » but also « star » or « the one who help to go to the other bank ». She is very famous (we can find her in Himalaya, Indonesia, oriental Asia since 5°century). She is also known by 108 different names, she brings protection to human beings all along the ocean of their existence.
This brass statue correspond to the traditionnal figurines of Tara, its weight is of 900 gr, height is 14,4 cm and 9,5 cm wide, it's very rich in ornaments, details of its finery make a real work of art.
